Purdue faculty and staff gathered on October 30 for the Excellence in Research Awards Dinner to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Purdue’s research community. As part of the ceremonies, Lionel “Bo” Beaulieu, director of the Purdue Center for Regional Development (PCRD), and Robert Goosen, associate director at the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), received a Seed for Success Award for their work on the Defense Manufacturing Assistance Program (DMAP). The Seed for Success Awards are given at the end of a fiscal year to those investigators who obtained $1 million or more in external funding. There were a total of 83 Seed for Success Awards given at the dinner.
DMAP’s funding has allowed PCRD to work with seven regions across the state of Indiana on a variety of projects aimed at helping communities that are centered around the defense industry. A few of the projects include, but are not limited to, a housing study, a transportation demand study, and a supply chain analysis. DMAP will be finishing its projects in May 2018.
